About 3 months after our son Mika was born he started to develop a rather worrying skin condition on his face. Our doctor told us that he had eczema and prescribed some special creams. After this course of treatment we needed to find a long term solution to managing his condition and discovered a wonderful range from the natural health and beauty company Weleda.

About 3 months after our son Mika was born he started to develop a rather worrying skin condition on his face. His cheeks became very dry, then crusty and weepy. It wasn’t a nice sight and certainly can’t have been very nice him either.

Our doctor told us that he had eczema (which apparently has some new fancier name which I can’t recall) and we needed to treat it with a course specially prescribed creams.

It didn’t take long for Mika’s skin to clear up but then we were faced with the daily battle of making sure that it didn’t dry out too much again and that we didn’t use the prescribed creams (which we weren’t at all keen to use for the long term).

After trying lots of different creams out, which had been recommended by various people including our GP, pharmacists and friends, we finally discovered a wonderful award winning range from Weleda.

All of Weleda’s Baby Care range are eco-friendly, ethical, are made from natural ingredients (they carry the BDIH Certified Natural Cosmetic logo) and are suitable for vegetarians.

We now use the products detailed below daily on Mika’s skin and he’s never had a problem since (well, occasionally his skin did start to dry out again but that was only when we ran out of Weleda’s products and tried something else, bad idea).

Calendula Cream Bath

This was the first of the Weleda baby products that we tried out. We were so impressed that we found such an effective and natural solution to our baby’s dry skin and eczema problem that we then went on to explore other options in their range.

Calendula Shampoo & Bodywash

We discovered this product a couple of months after we started using the cream bath. It’s great that we can wash our baby’s hair with this as well (he does still tend to get a bit of cradle cap). It also lathers more, create more bubbles (which he loves), and seems to go a little bit further.

Calendula Lotion

After his bath we give Mika a nice massage with this wonderfully aromatic cream and its milky texture is very quickly absorbed into his skin. The calendula and chamomile also seem to get him into a nicely relaxed state, maybe it’s just a coincidence but we reckon he’s being going to sleep much more quickly and easily since we’ve added this into our night time routine.

We’re also trying Mika with Weleda’s baby toothpaste but he’s not so keen on this yet. If anyone’s got any other options for natural toothpaste please let us know!
